New Building Regulations

The New Building Regulations: Conservation of Fuel and Power – Approved Document L1A, comes into affect on 1st October 2010. The document sets out the worst acceptable standards for fabric properties. The stated values represent the new area-weighted average value for all elements of that type:

Roof: 0.20 W/m².K
Wall: 0.30 W/m².K
Floor: 0.25 W/m².K

The regulations state that the achievement of the Target Emission Rate (TER) is likely to require significantly better fabric performance than those shown. (Part L1A, Page 15, sec 4.20). Download the full document here.

It is one of the first eco-office developments on the island, with a client brief specifying a sustainable design using natural materials from sustainable sources wherever possible.
