Initial Plans:
Initial plans should incorporate the provision of the Masonite System.
Wall thickness in particular will change, either resulting in enlarging the footprint of the dwelling, with potential Planning Considerations, or reducing room sizes which may already only be adequate.
Amendments to traditional-build plans are costly and often require a complete re-draw to take into consideration the Masonite System in order to gain the full benefits it has to offer.
Performance of traditional masonry walls offer no comparison to the Masonite wall in terms of thermal U-Values and subsequently the benefits of heat conservation. The U-Values detailed in the table below are supplied by Excel Industries Ltd and may be viewed in their TRADIS Brochure available at http://www.excelfibre.com:
Setting Out:
Drawings if at all possible should be on a grid basis. If for no other reason to ensure that loads are transferred correctly from the roof through the walls to the foundations.
Dimensionally for panel manufacture the following details are imperative over and above the normal Plans and Elevations.:-
Section through indicating sole plate levels, wall plate levels, eaves details and all lintels. Datum heights are most useful for all openings.
Section through roof.
Internal dimensions from stud to stud.
Panel Construction Drawings:
These are normally drawn utilising a cad system, or the new Coins System created for Masonite.
Sending original cad drawings to our Architect by e-mail allows the transposition of data to be facilitated more easily and leaves less room for error.
An e-mail dialogue is set up between our architect and the client’s architect to ensure accurate communication and dimensioning.
Structural Calculations:
Structural calculations including loadings and racking strengths will be required by Building Control in order to satisfy the current regulations. These may be provided by your own engineer and need to be resolved prior to manufacture and in conjunction with design. These calculations may alter the original design and require the incorporation of further beams and/or fixings which in turn may affect the original price quoted.
